Greek Fest Cancelled in Grand Rapids
Another festival that West Michigan looks forward to has been cancelled, but at this point none of us should be surprised.
On Wednesday, the Yassou Festival posted on their Facebook page that organizers made the decision to cancel their annual Greek Festival due to the coronavirus. It was scheduled to take place over a three-day weekend in August.
...for the safety of our volunteers and guests, we are confident this is the right decision to make.
Every year the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church puts on the GR Greek Fest at their church. The event celebrates the Greek culture in the form of entertainment and dance, arts, gifts, and of course so much yummy food and drinks.
At the festival guests can even take a Greek cooking class and dance class and take a tour of Holy Trinity.
Thankfully, the festival will be back next year so save the dates for August 20-22, 2021.
We found out on Wednesday as well that ArtPrize is canceled. At first, organizers said the festival would take place but with modifications, however they ultimately decided it wasn't the best move.
Without any concerts, festivals, or sports, I think it's safe to say that when it comes to fun this summer, we're going to have to create our own.
