The West Michigan Tourist Association announced the inaugural two-day Alexander Zonjic’s Shoreline Jazz Festival featuring musicians in contemporary jazz, will be at Heritage Landing in Muskegon Aug. 23 and 24.

Headliners include Alexander Zonjic, playing with his special guest Kenny G, Boney James, Ruben Studdard and Lalah Hathaway along with Maysa with Nick Colionne and Brian Simpson, Jeff Lorber Fusion, Tim Bowman and more.

The new jazz fest is the dream child of jazz flutist Alexander Zonjic.

“Everything about this new opportunity spoke to me,” says Zonjic. “When I came across Heritage Landing in Muskegon, I was struck with the beauty of the setting, the stage and the grounds. I knew this was the ideal location for a celebration of contemporary jazz that offers the opportunity for fans to see their favorite performers, at one time, in one beautiful place, with the Lake Michigan sunsets as a backdrop.”

Zonjic explained that he played at the Lakeshore Jazz Festival in Muskegon two years ago, invited by Djuna and Hawkins Lang who founded that original event. With their blessings, Zonjic created a new and bigger event, Alexander Zonjic’s Shoreline Jazz Festival.

The University of Toledo is presenting sponsor of the festival.

The full two day musical line-up includes five headline performers each day.
