This Saturday and Sunday, GVSU will host 600 players and 30 teams at the Midwest Quidditch Regional Championship.

Quidditch is an adaptation of the fictional sport featured in the “Harry Potter” series.

Teams from 12 states will join the Grand Valley Grindylows at the Midwest Quidditch Regional Championship on November 8 - 9.

Quidditch was first played in 2005 at Middlebury College. It was developed by freshman Xander Manshel. Quidditch is a co-ed contact sport that mixes rugby, dodgeball, and tag.

There are seven players to a team (three chasers, two beaters, a keeper and a seeke). All players play with brooms between their legs at all times. See the official rules.

Matches at GVSU will take place from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Outdoor and Intramural Fields on the Allendale Campus. Spectators and media are welcome; admission is free.
