ArtPrize is still a few months away, but the Grand Rapids Symphony isn't wasting and time getting their participation ready. They're looking for new, emerging composers and their compositions to feature as their entry, but time is very short to enter.

The Symphony will be returning to ArtPrize with a series of musical performances of new music by emerging composers at The Morton.

They are collaborating with the American Composers Orchestra to discover four new works of music by emerging composers through the ACO’s EarShot program. Composers can submit musical works for the Grand Rapids Symphony to read through during ArtPrize at The Morton, 55 Ionia Ave. NW.

Participants will be eligible to participate in the ArtPrize competition as an entry by the Grand Rapids Symphony.

The application deadline for composers is this coming Monday, June 11. More information is available on the American Composers Orchestra’s EarShot: Grand Rapids Symphony page.

Composers selected will be in residence in Grand Rapids from Sept. 25 through Sept. 30 with the Grand Rapids Symphony during ArtPrize. Participating composers will receive mentorship from established composers, feedback sessions with GRS musicians, and participate in public readings.
