LOOK: Grand Rapids’ Sweet Street Park Gets Sweet Upgrades!
We've seen a lot of cool upgrades and renovations at Grand Rapids-area parks recently - Sweet Street Park is the latest to get a makeover, including a unique, curved bench for sunset viewing.
This is my first time learning about Grand Rapids' Sweet Street Park! I used to live over in this area and I'm sad I didn't even know it was there. I'll have to visit this hidden gem, as it sounds like it's got great view of the sunset!
Sweet Street Park is on GR's northeast side, near Kent Country Club. Once a part of Creston High School, the playground was given to the City of Grand Rapids to become an official city park.
The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation recently shared that upgrades at Sweet Street Park are now complete.
There's a new, curved bench to watch beautiful sunsets over Grand Rapids.
Take the kiddos to play on Sweet Street Park’s new swing set and playground.
Other improvements include: picnic tables, accessible pathways, landscaping, bike loops, and new garbage bins.
Improvements to Grand Rapids' Sweet Street Park were made possible by a 2013 voter-approved millage.

Other recent improvements to area parks include the addition of an accessible kayak launch at Riverside Park, a new splash pad coming to Garfield Park, and two new bouldering/ climbing walls now open at Highland Park.
