They began the first weekend this month. They are the new hours for the Grand Rapids Public Museum, offering more time to visit one of Grand Rapids treasures.

Now, all visitors may visit the Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays! In addition, of course, to their weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum says it's an effort to accommodate our visitors when they most often visit, and gives everyone the opportunity to take advantage of the GRPM as the community hub for science, history and culture.

The Museum will no longer offer extended evening hours on Tuesday nights, but there are plans to do more regular evening programming, including the Concerts Under the Stars series this winter, and Beer Explorers.

By the way, don't forget the Live Mermaid, today and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

So, the new hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
