New Summer Dance Festival Is This Weekend in Grand Rapids
A first-of-its-kind Summer Dance Festival with food trucks and Michigan-made beer is this weekend in Grand Rapids!
Grand Rapids Ballet Company Hosts First Summer Dance Festival August 26 & 27
In 2022, Grand Rapids Ballet Company is celebrating it's 50th anniversary. As part of the celebration, they are hosting the inaugural Summer Dance Festival 5-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26 and 27.
The Summer Dance Festival will take place outdoors at Peter Martin Wege Theatre at 341 Ellsworth Ave. SW.
Guests are invited to enjoy two evenings of world-class dance - for free! You'll see performances of classical ballet favorites and contemporary works performed by Grand Rapids Ballet’s company dancers, apprentices, trainees, and Grand Rapids Ballet School students.
GRB is partnering with community dance partners who will also be performing including:
- Arthur Murray Dance Studio
- CPR Dance: Inhale Movement
- Dancespire
- Deos Contemporary Ballet
- Edgar L. Page (Aug. 26)
- Golden Tiger Kung Fu Academy (Aug. 27)
- Grand Valley State University Dance Program,
- La Fuerza de Grand Rapids (Aug. 26)
- Ray Love – The P.A.C.K.
The outdoor stage will open with live music by local singer/songwriter Ralston Bowles from 5:15p.m.-5:45p.m. each evening and the first dance performances will begin at 6 p.m.
Guests are invited to bring their own chairs.

Friday, August 26, you can grab food like Philly Cheesesteaks, steak tacos, chicken tenders, cheese fries and more from Taste Of Toya’s World,LLC.
Patty Matters Serves a bunch of different kinds of burgers and sandwiches, including a mushroom burger, crab burger, Rueben - even a spicy peanut butter burger!
Both Friday and Saturday get sweet treats from Frostbite Shaved Ice and Ice Box Brand Ice Cream Bars.
Grand Rapids Ballet says cold brews from Beer City’s best breweries will also be at the festival!

There's another new festival this weekend in GR too! The first-ever RE(TURN) to the River celebrating the Grand River is Saturday, August 27. You'll find circus performers, food trucks, art, games, music, and more at three locations along the Grand River.
