Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival Begins Today

The Coast Guard Festival begins today with some new events.  The festival kicks off with Hometown Idol at 7:30 p.m.  It is like American Idol.  At least 17 people have signed up.

The Coast Guard Run is on Saturday followed by the Kids Parade at 10:30 a.m.  There will also be a free hot dog lunch and a free circus at Water Stadium.

There will also be the traditional events like the carnival and fireworks.  Organizers say there's something for everyone.

There are 26 events this year with four ships arriving Monday at 1 p.m.
