Rhiannon Giddens, co-founder of the GRAMMY award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, is coming back to Grand Rapids this coming May 17, 2018 at St. Cecilia Music Center.

Giddens performed at SCMC in April 2015 to a sold-out audience, stunned at her amazing voice, musical talent and charisma on stage. Her return will highlight her newest album “Freedom Highway” that was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 Americana Music Honors & Awards. Giddens also received the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Singer of the Year and has won the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Bluegrass and Banjo in 2016. Giddens artfully blends gospel, jazz, blues, and country, showcasing her extraordinary range and dazzling voice.

Giddens, who studied opera at Oberlin Conservatory, also has a recurring role on the recently revived television drama Nashville on CMT, playing the role of Hanna Lee "Hallie" Jordan, a young social worker with "the voice of an angel”.
