The absolute best in Jazz is coming to Grand Rapids. John Proulx (Proo) is coming to town next Sunday, at it's a special performance.

St. Cecilia Music Center will host a Welcome Home/CD Release Party with Grammy-winning jazz pianist and singer John Proulx next Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. John will bring his trio that includes Michigan artists Paul Keller on bass and Pete Siers on drums. Following the concert there will be a CD signing party in the Dexter Ballroom at SCMC (refreshments available).

John Proulx is a singer, pianist, composer, and recording artist, and has returned to Grand Rapids after 16 years living in Los Angeles. Proulx commented, “I am thrilled to be celebrating two life milestones! After living in Los Angeles for 16 years, my family and I have recently moved back to Grand Rapids. I have started working on my Master’s degree at Western Michigan University, and we’re grateful to be closer to our family here in West Michigan.”

His piano playing is hot and swinging, and his voice recalls the smooth, mellow sounds of a young Chet Baker. Proulx’s latest CD, Say It features Chuck Berghofer, Joe LaBarbera, Larry Koonse, Bob Sheppard, a duet with Melissa Manchester, and three string quartet arrangements by Alan Broadbent.

Tickets for the CD Release Concert are $20 and $30, with a copy of Proulx’s new CD included with the $30 A section ticket. The post-concert CD signing party is also included for all ticket holders. Tickets are available by calling 616-459-2224 or visiting St. Cecilia Music Center at 24 Ransom NE, Grand Rapids, 49503. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.scmc-online.org.
