1980’s Cheesy Flint Commercial – ‘The Nightlife Is Calling You’
Everything gets a little bit (or a lot) cheesier over time. Things we say, wear, and do now will most likely seem cheesy 20 years from now too.
Proof of that is this particular Flint commercial from the 1980s. The thirty-second spot is promoting a weekend stay at the former Hyatt Regency Hotel and nightlife in downtown Flint for only $24.99 a night (per person when you read the fine print). According to MLive, the once-popular hotel opened in 1981, featuring 369 rooms and a giant ballroom too.
The commercial also features Club Bogart's which was located inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel. From all accounts, it looked like a place to drink and hook up. If you were lucky enough (old enough) to have hung out at Club Bogart's - I am guessing you have some sweet stories about the place, and I would love to hear them.
Once you see and hear the commercial below, trust me - you will be singing 'come to the Hyatt, let us show you what's new' for the rest of the day. I cannot get this commercial out of my head. If the Hyatt Regency Hotel was still open in downtown Flint, I would be there right now drinking margaritas (and tequila shots) at Club Bogart's. The nightlife is indeed calling me.
