With Memorial Day coming up on May 25th and the stay-at-home order not expiring until May 28th, a lot of the traditions we're used to attending to honor those who gave all for our freedom will be canceled or changed this year.

The City of Walker had decided even before the latest extension that they would cancel the annual parade for the health and safety of the veterans, parade participants and attendees, as well as the residents of the city.

Although the parade is canceled and we'll still be practicing safe social distancing on Memorial day, officials did encourage still honoring the brave men and women that gave all for us,

In lieu of this year’s parade, we would encourage you and your families to send cards to the local veteran’s home, place a flag on a veteran’s grave, or reach out to a veteran you know!

If you want to send cards to the local Veteran's Home, here's the contact info,
