Almost all schools have begun and kids are happily going about their school business. Parents are equally happy that their kids are back at school. Whew! Life can get back to normal.

I know we all have seen all the posts of kids going back to school, standing in front of the door to their house, or somewhere, and holding a sign, chalk board or whatever, saying something. What that sign says and doesn't say is very important!

It's a sad commentary today that those photos can be dangerous. The seem so innocent, though. Just a pic of your child with maybe their name, school, even teacher, or more.

The Michigan State Police are warning, pleading, with parents to be careful because there sadly are some truly evil people out there just looking to harm your child.

And if your Facebook, Instagram, whichever, page isn't private, anyone can see this and possibly track your child down to begin a conservation. Bad! Bad!

How Do You Protect Your Kids?

The Michigan State Police issued a statement in early August according to our radio partner WRKR. The State Police shared this on their Twitter account:

"#TuesdayTip: As children head back to school, it's tempting to share those first-day photos with the world. Before you hit "post," remember to protect your child's privacy. Avoid sharing any personal information, such as Names, School names or locations, Grade levels or ages, and Teacher Names."

Of course, you could also protect them another way by making your social media is  private.
