The class of 2021 into the Basketball Hall of Fame has a decidedly Michigan flavor to it.

Former U of M standout Chris Webber and Detroit Piston great Ben Wallace will give the newly renovated Basketball Hall of Fame a Michigan feel when they're inducted next year.

The announcement was made Sunday, prior to the induction of the Class of 2020 which included the late Kobe Bryant and NBA legend Tim Duncan.

Webber, one of the Fab Five Michigan players that shook up college hoops in the early '90s, said he was overwhelmed by his selection.

"I'm still in shock,” Webber told ESPN. “My father is very happy, so that makes me happy. My mother is happy. It's just a moment that I'm being grateful, just thankful. Thankful to all the people, friends and family that's been around. I'm just in shock. I really am. I really don't know what to say.”

Webber averaged over 20 points per game during his NBA career, and led the Michigan Wolverines to back-to-back NCAA Championship Game appearances.

Wallace is the first ever NBA player inducted that was not selected in the NBA draft. Wallace signed with Washington as a free agent out of Virginia Union, and eventually came to the Detroit Pistons in the famed Grant Hill trade in 2001.

His incredible shot blocking skills and ferocious rebounding skills helped the Pistons win the World Championship in 2004. They also won six straight Eastern Conference regular season titles during his stay.

Wallace is currently part owner of the Grand Rapids G-League basketball franchise, which is currently awaiting a rebrand after switching affiliation from the Pistons to the Denver Nuggets.
