A Detroit man with prior felonies made it easy for the ATF to catch him breaking the law by posting all of the illegal things he was doing on social media.

Javion Otis, whose Instagram handle is hawaii.jj, was tracked by ATF agents after they saw his posts with him holding guns, doing drugs, and bragging about committing fraud.
What Things Did The ATF See Him Posting On Social Media?
The Metro Detroit News reported that Javion Otis displayed and referenced his consumption of illicit controlled substances, including Percocet and Oxycontin, and expressed he was driving a vehicle while under the influence.
He showed off a variety of firearms, which are illegal for felons to own.
He posted about opportunities to make money by fraudulent means as well. He was also being investigated by federal agents for unemployment fraud, among other things.

On November 29, 2021, ATF agents executed a sealed federal search warrant at Tobin Apt in Inkster, Michigan. Otis was seen exiting the master bedroom, where agents found a Glock model 41 .45 caliber pistol with an inserted empty 40-round drum magazine, and a Glock model 17 pistol loaded with one round in the chamber.
What Did He Tell The ATF After Being Arrested?
Otis admitted he bought both guns that were found in the home. He also told them that he smokes weed daily and he used to take Percocet and Oxy. He also told them he was still under probation.

He was charged with Unlawful User of a Controlled Substance in Possession of a Firearm, Wire Fraud, Mail Fraud, and Aggravated Identity Theft.
