ArtPrize 2014: Important Dates, What’s New, Transportation and More

ArtPrize is Sept. 24 (Wednesday) to Oct. 12. There are a total of 1,536 entries this year.
Our guide will help you to plan ahead, save time and see more of the fantastic art that is overtaking Grand Rapids.
IMPORTANT DATES
- September 24 - Round 1 voting begins at noon.
- October 4 - Round 1 voting ends at 11:59pm.
- October 5 - Public Vote Top 20 announced at 2:00pm at Rosa Parks Circle, Round 2 voting begins at 3:00pm.
- October 9 - Round 2 voting ends at 11:59pm.
- October 10 - Awards Show at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre at 8:00pm.
- October 12 - ArtPrize ends at 6:00pm.
VOTING
- Must be 16 to vote.
- Register to Vote - Present a valid ID while downtown and register your e-mail address with ArtPrize or use a GPS enabled mobile device, download the ArtPrize app, and register your account with the app while in downtown Grand Rapids.
- Where to Vote - ArtPrize.org, via text message, or with the ArtPrize app.
- Round 1 - Vote for as many artists as you like.
- Round 2 - Vote for one of the Top 20.
WHAT'S NEW
- The App - This year's ArtPrize app has made some improvements. The app will help you vote, find art, and get around town. Read a full review of the 2014 ArtPrize app.
- Listing Feature - Get some ideas of which pieces to see at ArtPrize or share your favorites with others. Learn more about the new ArtPrize Listing Feature.
- Artist Seed Grants - 25 artists were given $2,000 each to help create and install their entries at ArtPrize. Find their entries and learn more about the grant program.
- Critical Discourse - The Critical Discourse series brings together experts in the fields of art, design, innovation, urbanism, social equity and technology for conversations about art. The newly expanded series is free and open to the public. View a list of topics, speakers, dates, and times.
TRANSPORTATION/PARKING
- Ride the Bus - $5 gets you two wristbands to ride The Rapid bus system during ArtPrize. Learn where to get your wristband, bus routes, and more.
- Ride a Bike - ArtPrize is providing a bike valet this year. The valet is limited to ArtPrize hours and subject to available space. Bike corrals will also be provided. See where to park your bike.
- Parking - Parking is a challenge during ArtPrize. View detailed information on when and where to park during ArtPrize.
OTHER
- The HUB - The HUB is ArtPrize headquarters. It's the place to go when you want to buy ArtPrize gear or when you have a specific question about ArtPrize.
