ArtPrize 2014: Denis Beaubois’ ‘Currency — The Division of Labor’
Would you take a job offering minimum wage for two 3.5 hour shifts without knowing what it was for?
Some people did and their work became Denis Beaubois' ArtPrize entry, "Currency - The Division of Labor" at Kendall College of Art and Design.
Five people were hired. They were brought into a rented office having no idea why they were there. Participants were simply asked to maintain a smile for their seven hour commitment broken into two 3.5 hour shifts.
"Currency - The Division of Labor" shows their time in the office and invites many questions.
The ArtPrize entry has been seen in the public's Top 25 in the Time-Based category.
