Another Festival Bites the Dust Due to Coronavirus
This is getting frustrating with cancellation after cancellation of celebrations, graduations, concerts and festivals. Summer events such as the Arts Festival, Cherry Festival, Coast Guard Festival, all cancelled, and now bye bye to the Polish harvest Festival! Aaarrrgghhh!!
Organizers of the Dozynki Polish Harvest Festival said they feel they must cancel due to concerns of spreading COVID-19.
Fox17 reported that this is the festival is the longest running ethnic festival in Grand Rapids, having been held annually since 1979 and was only canceled one other time.
The annual event is usually held in August at Rosa Parks Circle. It is now planned to resume August 27 to 29, 2021.
The festival has been the major fundraiser for the Polish Heritage Society of Grand Rapids.
