The Garage Bar & Grill, 819 Ottawa, NW in downtown Grand Rapids, has felt a real need to help people during the Pandemic of QOVID19. And that help has been providing free meals to the unemployed during the crisis.

To date, they have provided more than 3,000 free family meals in 30 days to the areas unemployed, since they announced they would provide 100 free meals per day. The thought being the program would end April 20 and people would be back to work. Not the case, however. Many are not back to work yet and struggling to feed their families, so, the Garage Bar & Grill is keeping their program going through May 5. Once complete, they will have provided 4,500 free meals to those in need.

The Garage Bar Cares program takes the first 100 people to call the Garage Bar’s Grand Rapids location starting at 10 a.m. each day to submit their order for a free meal to be picked up during operating hours.

And, the good news is for this extended period, they are including area first responders and organizers of Grand Rapids Service Industry Network Donations, which is a volunteer initiative that provides food and supplies to out-of-work service industry workers.

Individuals can call the Garage's North Monroe District location at (616) 454-0321 with their name and order and select their pick up time. Callers will be able to order any item off the menu up to 2 people. Owners are asking that guests limit their order to once per day.

Garage Bar and Grill remains open for delivery and take out customers, as well, including beer and wine sales.
