13,000 Bottles of Jarritos Form Wall at ArtPrize Seven [Video]
Muñoz & Company's "Port of Entry" uses 13,000 bottles of Jarritos to build a wall and make a statement at Calder Plaza during ArtPrize Seven.
The title and location are intentional. The piece is built at one point of entry to Calder Plaza.
"Port of Entry" is meant to open a discussion on immigration while considering the history of immigration in Grand Rapids.
However, the entry is not solely meant to be political. It is also meant to be a joyful celebration, shown by its bright colors which stand out when it is lit up at night.
At the conclusion of ArtPrize, the bottles will be given to volunteers who helped with the project. Any extra remaining bottles will be donated locally.
