That's a very good question, where is Andy, err, where have I been? I've been gone way too long.

Well, it's a long story, but it's only fair I catch you all up to date.

As I wrote on my Facebook page a couple of weeks ago, there are times in one's life when things don't go exactly as planned. And this episode turned out to be a big detour.

Over two weeks ago, I had scheduled a routine colonoscopy. It's a reasonable and preventive check up that all of us over 50 should have. Over the years I've had several checkups, but this had a little oops. My colon was perforated during the procedure. I was rushed to Spectrum/Blodgett for emergency surgery, and the rest is history. The repair was successful, even if I lost a bit of my colon, and I am now recovering at home.

I did get to spend some interesting days at Blodgett, eight to be exact, always well taken care of, and had many visitors like my grandson Charlie. He read me stories.

Is there a bright side here? Well, I have lost nearly 30 pounds, and a few polyps. This isn't exactly a diet I would recommend, but I worked for me.

So many thanks go out to my surgeon, Dr. Ryan Figg and his associates, the entire nursing, aide and support staff on 4-G at Blodgett, my wife, Kathy who was always there, my kids and friends, for their love and concern, and, to all of you 100.5 River listeners. You have been my professional, broadcasting support for many more years that I want to admit to. Thank you for always being there and caring.

I'll see you on the radio, very soon!
