Counting down to the New Year is fun!  Usually.

The countdown to midnight is fun.  The countdown to eating better and exercising is a drag.

Why not make a fun New Year's resolution?  What's yours?

There are the old standbys, boring, but popular:  lose weight, eat better, exercise more, quit smoking, pay off bills, etc.

If you insist on sticking with a classic and getting healthy, here are a few ideas:

  • Juice is in.  Mama always said, "eat your vegetables".  Turns out it's OK to drink them too.  The juice industry is growing making it easier than ever to find healthy drinks.
  • Technology and apps can help make planning and keeping track of a disciplined training program less time consuming.
  • And there's no reason to miss out on the first day of exercise.  Grand Rapids area YMCA's are among those who will be open on New Year's Day.

Healthy is good, but New Year's resolutions don't have to be painful.

Why not plan to spend more time with your family in 2013 and have more fun!

When is the last time you've seen a good concert?  How about 50?

Muskegon native Chad Smith currently lives in East Cambridge, Massachusetts.  He made seeing concerts his mission in 2012.  His personal challenge for 2012, "I must see at least 50 live music shows or 100 groups/artists perform live by December 31, 2012."

He just bought tickets for show #50.  Read more about his concert-going adventures here.

Maybe 50 concerts is too many for you, but what about 10?

If not concerts?  Maybe baseball games or musicals or visits to the beach.

What is YOUR New Year's resolution?
