Monday night was a long night for the West Michigan Whitecaps, as the team played its longest game in franchise history.

The Whitecaps' epic battle against the Lake County Captains at Fifth/Third Ballpark in Comstock Park lasted 18 innings (a franchise record) and took 4 hours and 57 minutes. The Whitecaps won 4-3.

The Midwest League game had been tied at 2-2 since the third inning, when Lake County took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 17th.

The Whitecaps answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to send it to the 18th. A bases-loaded walk won it for the Whitecaps in the 18th!

Congrats to the Whitecaps and congrats to all of the fans that stayed to the end!
