Want to be a singer on the big screen? Want to be in ArtPrize? This year, you'll have an opportunity to do both at the same time.

Collaboration is a word not lightly tossed around in Grand Rapids.  Collaboration is what has made this community grow and thrive, and become the envy of communities around the country.  Around these parts, collaboration in the Art world is a key success benchmark, as well.

ArtPrize has begun and hundreds of volunteers are hard at work, but some venues still need more help. Learn about some remaining volunteer opportunities at ArtPrize 2013.

Live Coverage is an annual event at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids. The event features over 50 artists making art on-the-spot, auctions, food, music, and more.

Martijn van Wagtendok's "Song of Lift" took second place at ArtPrize 2012.  It is still on display on the bottom floor of UICA at 2 West Fulton. On October 20, there will be a special performance of "Song of Lift" at UICA accompanied by members of the Grand Rapids Symphony.

The UICA’s national-award-winning ArtWorks Youth Program unveiled a new mural at 106 South Division! Led by local artist Erwin Erkfitz, twelve of the ArtWorks student participants from area schools designed and painted the mural on a wall at the Avenue for the Arts. This student-created first phase of the mural was unveiled to the public in a ribbon-cutting ceremony along with ArtWorks student art

Staff at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts were to announce today their new building at 2 W. Fulton St. officially will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 25, with a free community open house on July 31.
