Sunshine Community Church, one of the largest church facilities
in West Michigan, has decided they need to restructure, and, relocate. So, they have reached an agreement to sell their current facilities and property at 3300 East Beltline Ave NE to Resurrection Life Church of Rockford. Terms of the impending sale are not being disclosed.

“The members of Sunshine have been pursuing a dynamic new vision that fits better with a smaller facility and property than the one we currently have at 3300 East Beltline. We have been seeking a win-win scenario that would allow us to live more simply and redirect God’s resources toward new movements of ministry in Grand Rapids,” said Pastor Josh Blunt, lead pastor of Sunshine Church.

Sunshine Community Church was established in 1923 in Grand Rapids, and has been at four different locations on the northeast side throughout its history. The current building was built in 1989. The property has 77 acres and three buildings.

The church features a 2,300 seat auditorium which has been a well-known event site for large concerts, graduation ceremonies, and Christian conferences. Sunshine Community Church is an active ministry, currently led by Pastor Josh Blunt, with over 400 worshippers attending during Sunday services and with multiple groups and outreach events meeting during the week.

Resurrection Life Church of Rockford is also pursuing a dynamic new vision, and it requires a facility configuration like the one Sunshine Church currently has.

On August 7th, members of Sunshine Church took a vote to move ahead with the sale. The church owns the property and buildings at 3300 East Beltline; Sunshine’s denominational connection is to the Christian Reformed Sunday worship will continue at Sunshine Church until the transaction is complete and the new owners take occupancy; specific dates are still being determined.
