A gym in Spring Lake told its patrons they could no longer watch cable news in their facility, because it was causing too many arguments.

I don't care which side of the political spectrum you fall on, you have to agree we need to learn a way to lift up the political discourse in our country.

A case in point: the Spring Lake FItness and Aquatic Center, where they have informed patrons they can no longer tune the TVs in the cardio and weight rooms to CNN of FOX News. Why? Because people have gotten into heated political arguments because of them.

It was "....creating an environment that was just not conducive to what we promoted, you know health and fitness and happiness and all that," Facility Director Jason Epplett told WZZM-13 News.

This isn't the first time this has happened. A gym in Pennsylvania had to do the same thing to prevent altercations from getting physical.

A couple of observations on this if I may:

1) Toddlers argue over TV channels, adults should know better and ignore it when things don't go their way.

2) Why does anyone even care about what's on TV at the gym? When I go to my gym, I knock out a workout and leave. I'm not interested in watching TV. (Full disclosure: I was once pulled into a political argument in the sauna once. I regret it.)

Can't we all just get along? I guess not.
