Grand Rapids City Commissioner Rosalynn Bliss has formally announced that she is running for mayor of Grand Rapids.

Mayor George Heartwell cannot run for re-election due to new term limits which were approved by voters in November. Mayor Heartwell's current term will end at the end of the year.

Commissioner Rosalynn Bliss is not eligible for re-election to the City Commission due to new term limits. Bliss began serving as Second Ward City Commissioner in 2006 and is currently serving her third term.

The new term limits limit the mayor and city commissioners to two terms.

Bliss formally made the announcement at a press conference today.
