KMIR Television station in California is reporting that the President and First Lady Betty Ford's final home is on the market and for sale.  The asking price is almost 1.7 million dollars.

The President and first lady always referred to "Grand Rapids" as home but but after the President's presidency they retired to Ranch Mirage.  Who can blame them for leaving the cold West Michigan Winters for the sunshine of California!  (Rancho Mirage is a suburb of Palm Springs).  Plus with the President being an avid golfer and all having a house built on a golf course made sense.

The home boasts five bedroom, six bathrooms and a swimming pool.

"President Ford even designed the swimming pool himself and always swam twice a day.  There is a separate house on the property that once belonged to Ginger Rogers and the Secret Service lived there.  The biggest draw of all, for me would be, some of the furniture the Ford's had in their home will remain with the new buyer.  Know of any takers with an extra 1.7 million dollars?

President Ford died in December 2006.  Betty Ford died 5 years later.
