The 8-year-old Michigan State basketball fan whose battle with cancer inspired the team's players, coaches and many more across the country will be honored by thousands of her closest friends at a memorial service Thursday night in East Lansing.

Lacey Holsworth's family has asked those who plan on attending the 6:30 p.m. event tonight at the Breslin Center to wear bright colors and smiles in celebration of her life.

Lacey died at her home in St. Johns on April 8. She was known by many as "Princess Lacey". Lacey had neuroblastoma, a nerve-cell cancer, and wore a blond wig because chemotherapy took her hair.

Lacey met Michigan State basketball star Adreian Payne during one of her hospital stays, and their friendship quickly blossomed. Lacey and Adreian's friendship gained national attention during this year's NCAA Basketball Tournament.
