Meijer Surprises Shoppers in Each Store, Pays for Cart Full of Groceries and Gifts [Video]

Meijer has some very happy customers this holiday season after surprising shoppers in each of their 223 stores by paying for all of the items in their cart.

Meijer's annual Very Merry Meijer event took place on November 21.

In addition to purchasing all of the items in the cart, Meijer also gave a $100 Meijer gift card to the cashier helping the customer and an additional $100 Meijer gift card to the customer to share with a charitable organization, or a family or individual in need.

In most cases, the store director revealed the gift upon checkout, but Hank Meijer, Co-Chairman Doug Meijer, and Meijer President Rick Keyes also helped express thanks.

"The Very Merry Meijer event is a fun way for us to say thank you to our customers and our team members. That is what the holidays are all about," Keyes said.
