The nation's premiere dog show was this week in New York.  We now know that the "top dog" was Malachy, a Pekingese, winning Best in Show.

But, did you know that another of the winners at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is a Beagle from Kent County.

Our news partner, WZZM 13, reported that one year old "Gala," whose official name is Grand Champion Werff's Apple of My Eye, won "Best of Opposite Sex".  What that means is the male, is the best 13-inch (Beagle). And they choose the best of the opposite sex. So of the girls, she (Gala) was the best.  With over 2,000 dogs allowed into the Westminster show, that's quite an accomplishment.

Gala and her owner, handler, and breeder, 27-year old Alyssa Vander Werff, are from Casnovia here in Kent County.

Congratulations Gala!  Woof, woof!!
