WZZM TV13 just updated a story they reported nearly two months ago.  Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon has started screening high school athletes for heart defects.

The tests came a couple of months after the death of Fennville's Wes Leonard who died from Sudden Cardiac Death Syndrome.

Those tests identified three students with possibly deadly heart conditions who shouldn't play sports.  One of the students has Wolff-Parkings-White Syndrome, a condition that interrupts the electrical circuit of the heart.

Three more screenings are scheduled this summer- July 27, July 28 and August 3. Click here for more information about the screenings.

What about your kids school?  Shouldn't schools everywhere be doing this?
