West Michigan will have a strong voice in the design, construction and financing of the new international Crossing between Michigan and Canada. The Right Place, Inc., CEO Birgit Klohs has been appointed to serve on a new six-person Crossing Authority.

The Ministry of Transportation of Canada and the State of Michigan, as represented by Gov. Rick Snyder, Michigan Department of Transportation and the MEDC’s Michigan Strategic Fund, announced the establishment of the new Crossing Authority last week.

The newly-established Crossing Authority will work with the Windsor/Detroit/Bridge Authority (WDBA) previously established by Canada. The Authority will consist of six members, three appointed by Canada and three by the State of Michigan.

Klohs is one of the three appointees from Michigan.

The new crossing between Canada and Michigan is one of the most critical infrastructure projects for Michigan and the United States. It will drive trade and economic development for decades to come. The Right Place, Inc. has been a strong supporter of the initiative.
