Pirates are coming and Grand Rapids is welcoming them with open arms.

Grand Rapids Public Museum's new exhibition, "Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship," opens this weekend.

The exhibition features coins that visitors can touch, pirate dress items, an 18th century cannon, pistols, swords, and many other authentic items.

The whole city will be getting into the pirate spirit to celebrate the opening of the exhibition as Mayor George Heartwell has proclaimed October 16 as Pirate Day in Grand Rapids.

Sounds like a good chance to get an extra use out of that pirate Halloween costume!
