On Saturday, aspiring pirates invaded downtown Grand Rapids for a treasure hunt!

The treasure hunt began at 11:00 in downtown Grand Rapids, although some locations didn't open until noon.

Treasures included: earrings at Grand Woods Lodge, spyglass/telescopes at Pearl Street Grill, coins at Stellas Lounge, hats at HopCat, and eyepatches at Grand Rapids Brewing Company.

Pirate Take Over Day was free and available to the first 500 participants.

Once all of the treasure was gathered pirates were encouraged to post pictures of their completed costumes on social media using #PiratesGR.

The event was in support of the Real Pirates exhibit coming to Grand Rapids Public Museum this fall.
