The Sochi Winter Olympics open officially today in Sochi, Russia.

It seems like every news story that we see points to everything being awful. Hotels, as well as portions of the Olympic village aren't yet complete. There are stray dogs all over the place.

We haven't heard much about the actual event venues themselves. So, hopefully, they're at least ready. Let's face it: That's really all that matters.

One thing that appears to be up and running is the snowboarding course at Extreme Park at Rosa Khutor Mountain.

But man, it sure looks terrifying when you check out this first-person perspective from a helmet cam.
