Former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher has died. Her children, Sir Mark and Carol confirmed that Britain's first female prime minister passed away following a stroke. She was 87.

Thatcher let Britain for eleven years, from 1979 until 1990. She was referred to as the Iron Lady by many.

Lady Thatcher had become increasingly frail in that past few years after suffering a series of small strokes in 2001 and 2002.

In 2008, her daughter Carol revealed that Thatcher had been diagnosed with dementia, which had been affecting her memory for the last decade.

The family is expected to make a longer statement later on today.
