Amazon & iTunes Add Racism Disclaimer To ‘Tom & Jerry’ Cartoons

Amazon and Apple have placed disclaimers on Tom and Jerry cartoons, warning viewers that they may contain racist content.

A message accompanying the cartoons on Amazon Prime Instant explains that, well, things were different back when the cartoons were made, and they could end up having racist content in them. Here is the full disclaimer from Amazon:

Tom & Jerry shorts may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American society. Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. While the following does not represent the Warner Bros. view of today's society, these cartoons are being presented as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming that these prejudices never existed.
