Do you recognize this home in Grand Rapids Heritage Hill historic district? Of course you do because it's been around since 1892, and it's quite the architectural gem.

Located on the corner of Cherry and Union, SE, of Heritage Hill, it is a one-of-a-kind design. Thomas Friant, a lumberman, had this house built in 1892 and he was a determined romantic when he chose the kind of house that would express his dreams. It has hand cut stone arches, turrets, shingle style gables, a port-cochere, and fanciful windows. And of course, a stately carriage house with details to match the house.

Joy Pupel posted this on the If You Grew Up in Grand Rapids Facebook page and you have to check out the stunning photos from Greenridge Realty.

Back in 1968, this house was not for sale; it was to be demolished to make way for a medical building. However, within the year the owner had a serious accident, had to change his plans, and sold it. After years of neglect it took a lot of hard work and love to restore it to its current beauty.

If my memory serves me right, our past mayor of Grand Rapids and ironically, my former attorney, John Logie and his wife Susan and family owned this house.

At any rate, Greenridge Reality has it listed.
