Young artists are again welcome to enter ArtPrize in the newly expanded youth category.

Western Michigan University and ArtPrize have announced that the Youth Collaboration Award will expand at ArtPrize 10 to include two $2,500 cash prizes, one decided by public vote and one chosen by a jury.

The Youth Collaboration Award offers a way for students under the age of 18 to participate in ArtPrize. Any school or eligible nonprofit educational organization serving students from kindergarten through twelfth grade may enter a collaborative piece.

Young artists have wanted to be a part of ArtPrize for years and it's encouraging to see that their chances to participate are continuing to grow.

Applications will be accepted during the 2018 artist registration period, from April 16-June 7. Groups must include at least two artists under the age of 18. Groups interested should contact the ArtPrize team at education@artprize.org to apply.

Youth Collaboration Award entries will not have to pay the $100 collaborative ArtPrize entry fee. They will also not be eligible to win the two $200,000 grand prizes or the $100,000 in category awards.

ArtPrize 10 will take place in Grand Rapids from Sep. 19 - Oct. 7, 2018.
