It's been a few years since you have seen her face on WOOD TV but she is returning to West Michigan television.

Elisia Alonso, a Western Michigan Broadcast Journalism grad, had been in retail from 2011 until she got her chance to work at WOOD-TV from 2015 to 2019 and she nearly did it all. She was a production associate, an assignment editor, worked her way into live desk reporter, and became part of the Daybreak team back then.

It was 2019 when she took an opportunity to move to a warmer climate, South Carolina, on WBTW News 13. She moved on from there to Fort Meyers, Florida, and has been a  part of the morning team at WBBH TV. Now, she is coming back home, so to speak.

So what does Elisia have to say about her up coming move?

Excited to announce my return to broadcasting in West Michigan! I’ve joined the eightWest lifestyle team at WOOD TV8 where I’ll be reporting on community stories, while also hosting Live Local. Give Local. on ABC 4. Truly a dream position covering the community I love. Be sure to tune in to eightWest next Monday for my formal introduction!

In local Grand Rapids and West Michigan TV it's nice to know that this is a home for so many of our favorite personalities. But, we do see many people come and go. They move on for different reasons, family, chasing that next best job, more money in larger markets, retirement, or changing careers entirely to leave a very tough and sometimes brutal business.

It's heartwarming to have someone want to return and bring her quality reporting and storytelling back to West Michigan.

Welcome Back Elisia!
