You don't have to completely let go of summer just yet. Getty Drive-In Theatre in Muskegon has extended its season through October.

West Michigan's only drive-in theater was supposed to close after Labor Day weekend [as most fun places do in the summer]. However, they have decided to stay open to introduce 'Getty Classics' -- a series of movies you know and love shown every weekend through October 26th.

Getty's General Manager told WZZM

Since the Muskegon Muskrat saw his shadow August 27 and declared eight more weeks of summer, we decided to keep the Getty going until Halloween!

The fall 'Getty Classics' begins the weekend of September 20 with a double feature on two different screens.

They've made it hard to decide what movies to choose between but I've already saved the date for the weekend of October 18.

The official end of the drive-in season will be Friday, October 26 with their annual Halloween celebration.  Family-friendly activities are planned for the day and everyone is encouraged to show up in costume! The lineup for that night includes GoosebumpsHalloween, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a double feature of Alfred Hitchcock films.
