Wow, if you need a reason to go off on that “friends” trip, WZZM13 is hooking you up with the reason/argument.

The benefit these trips bring? They help you live longer!   WZZM13 found the article through Southern Living magazine, but it says taking trips with your friends is important as you grow older. WZZM13 says the magazine found that having friends as you grow older is scientifically proven to help “extend your life”.

The WZZM13 story quoted from Southern Living said,

“Psychologists say they were able to predict how many friends a person has by how much pain they were able to withstand. And researchers have also found evidence that spending time with friends can increase production of oxytocin, the “feel good cuddle hormone.”

Researchers at Michigan State University also found that friendships in older people are a good predictor to health and happiness, even more so than how the person’s relationship is with family, according to WZZM13.

So I say plan that trip and don’t feel guilty.  You’re doing it for your health.
