Top Places People In West Michigan Say You Should Live
I'm a Michigan native that has been away for the past seven years. Now that I'm back things are a little different.
I went from being a single guy in his 20s living in an apartment to a married man with two dogs looking to settle down in a house. This leads to the question... Where should I live in west Michigan?

Jessica O. said Sparta
Sparta Michigan is the place to be. It is about a 10-15 minute commute to downtown Grand Rapids and gives you the life of living in a small town. We have lots of little shops and restaurants. Our school system is great. We have live music every Thursday night in town square. And you would be welcomed with open arms

Sparta it is an amazing little village that does a lot there is always some form of entertainment going on in town that brings the community together and its only a short drive to GR
Ashley V. Suggested Fulton Heights in Grand Rapids
We live in Fulton heights GR and LOVE it! Quiet neighborhood, lower crime and very nice neighbors. A mix of retirees who have raised there kids here to young families. We probably will make this one our forever home
Brandon did a good job of selling me on Wayland
It’s a bit of a hike to GR in the winter, but we love Wayland. It’s a growing community and we even have a brewery and a distillery in town.
Tracy P. gave several options
I guess it would be a personal choice..do you like the hustle and bustle of city life? Do you want acreage for bon fires and chill? Do you want just a small/medium yard with neighbors and side walks? Downtown Grand Rapids is great for hustle and bustle but expensive..the rest can be found in small out skirt towns..avoid Kentwood and Wyoming those both have higher crime rates. I am Standale/Walker area..we like it well enough but it is growing and traffic is not very pleasant. When we bought, it had more of a country feel but with all the new developments it’s becoming busier then we like. It’s all about personal preference for sure.
April M. was rolling out the welcome wagon for Lowell
We would love to have you in Lowell. So much going on in town every month. We try to have one event a month. Has a great dog park! And still close to downtown GR
Nicole J. had a few suggestions as well as a place not to live
I’ve lived in Jenison, Hudsonville, Grandville/Wyoming, Kentwood and Rockford… I’d suggest everyone of them but Kentwood
Jennifer A. might have won over my wife with this one
Fruitport. People are nice. Great schools and a brand new high school! It's quiet but easy to get to Grand Haven Muskegon or Grand Rapids. We are getting new businesses! We have the best ice cream in the world at Norm's!
I like Whitney D.'s suggestions but I don't know if I could drive that far every day for work
Allegan! It's a small town40 min from GR but a great location if you want to go the Kalamazoo, Holland or GR...centrally located. The Downtown area is beautiful and quaint with two breweries downtown. They also have a nice river front and boardwalk, historical homes, an amazing aquatic center and live music every Friday during the summer months. More affordable living than the nearby larger cities.
Sarah B. said Eastown
They definitely look like an Eastown kind of couple!!
Chris B. has a cool beard and suggested Spring Lake/Nunica
Spring Lake/Nunica
Semi country feel and if you buy outside of the village property taxes are cheap. Minutes from the beach and ok night life downtown grand haven in summer. If your renting rent is ok priced in the many condo/apartments in the grand haven, Norton shores area and some In spring lake.
