Hey, guess what?  It's election day tomorrow!

Tuesday, November 8th, voters across West Michigan will head to the polls  to vote on several important and even controversial issues.

One of the key elections here is for mayor of Grand Rapids. Incumbent, Mayor George Heartwell is seeking his third term.  His opponent, Mike Gionfriddo is a newcomer to politics, and Grand Rapids, for that matter.  He's lived in West Michigan for about a year.

Of course, Tuesday's election's are considered off-year, and won't be nearly as big or consequential as 2012's presidential and congressional races. However, there are a number of important local offices up for grabs, as well as some millage requests and ballot questions relevant to voters.

City of Grand Rapids Comptroller is one.  The Comptroller is the independently elected financial watchdog for the city.   Last year, Grand Valley State University Public Finance Professor Donijo DeJonge was appointed to the job and is now running for the office.  Her challenger is former State Representative and County Commissioner,  Mike Sak.

There are also some school tax requests on ballots.  Among those looking for additional funds,  Grand Rapids, Northview and Byron Center are seeking school millage increases.

And, in Kentwood a City Charter Amendment is up for approval.  The proposed amendment to the Kentwood City Charter would make convicted felons ineligible from holding office in the city.

Polls open at 7am and close at 8pm.  Don't forget to vote!
