Fans have been asking for this look and now, MSU delivers.

When the Michigan State Spartans take the field this Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions, they'll be showcasing a new design on their helmets. The helmet will feature a new retro-looking "Gruff" Sparty. It's the first time this symbol has been used on the helmets.

Over the years, Michigan State helmets have featured different looks including a Block S, a stripe down the middle, and different Spartan logos. However, this is the first for "Gruff Sparty." Gruff Sparty has been seen before as it made its first appearance on the Men's basketball jersey in 1977-78 and was used for just two seasons. Fans have been requesting the Gruff Spartan symbol be used on football helmets ever since.

Modeled by redshirt sophomore wide receiver, Jayden Reed, you can see the helmet in this video. The tweet from Michigan State Football simply says, "You're Welcome."

The Spartans will wear the retooled green helmets and pair the uniform with white jerseys and green pants. The game can be watched on ABC. Kick-off is at noon. It's the teams regular season finale.
