Forbes has been heaping praise on Grand Rapids over the last couple of years naming us, among other things, the best city to raise a family in and one of the top 15 cities with emerging downtowns. But, it turns out the magazine doesn't heap praise on the entire Mitten State. Three Michigan cities have landed on their 2013 list of America's Most Miserable cities.
Grand Rapids is getting some more love from the folks at Forbes Magazine. They've already named us one of the ten happiest cities to work in, and the number one city to raise a family in, and now they've bestowed us with the honor of being names one of the top 15 cities with emerging downtowns!
Sometimes the inclusion of a West Michigan city in a national "best of" list comes as a bit of a surprise.
Sometimes it's obvious.
Holland has been named one of "America's Prettiest Towns" by Forbes.
No one in West Michigan is surprised.
It just makes you proud to live and work here when you hear good things about your town. But, I don't mean just from friends and family, although they certainly are important.
I mean nationally, from respected publications like Forbes. I makes you proud to say you're from Grand Rapids.
After the "hit" of the Lip Dub video around the nation, the good news is building.
The Grand Rapids area went from a "dying city" in Newsweek, to the number one city for jobs in another high profile publication. The issue appeared on Forbes.com.
