Not only is it the Festival of the Arts in downtown Grand Rapids this weekend, but there are also a couple of concerts and plays, two different runs, a free dental clinic, a reptile & exotic pet show, and a chance to adopt a dog.

Grand Rapids Civic Theatre was founded in 1925 and has been both the anchor of and the gateway to live theatre in Grand Rapids for more than 92 years. That tradition continues in full force with the announcement of the 2017-2018 season line-up.

Avenue Q, opening at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre May 29, features a delightful blend of a cast of humans and puppets in a plot that tackles subjects such as dating, racism, internet porn, being gay and finding a purpose in life. In short, Avenue Q is about community, and the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and School of Theatre Arts’ is the first community theatre in Grand Rapids to produce this (2004)

TEDxGrandRapids returns to Grand Rapids Civic Theatre on May 7. Applications to attend the event are now open. A launch party for this year's TEDxGrandRapids is slated Feb. 4 at Downtown Market.
