Now that law is crazy, weird and hysterical, but it's true, it is illegal to tie an alligator to a fire hydrant in Detroit!

You have to be kidding me. Silly? Yes, but true since this law is actually still on the books. I think you'll hurt your brain trying to figure out how and why this became a law in the first place.

Here in Michigan there are some really weird laws that, for some reason, haven't been repealed. Probably because our legislature is so busy arguing with each other they can't pay attention.

Let's check out some of our crazy, weird laws that are still on the books, and seriously against the law in Michigan.

The website Around Michigan says here are a few:

1. Unless they are married, couples may not live together. It's a felony.

2. It is against the law to paint a sparrow with red paint with the intention of selling them as parakeets.

3. Anyone may keep their cow on Main Street in the city of Wayland for three cents per day.

4. In South Haven, it’s against the law to fling an abandoned hoop skirt onto the street or sidewalk. Those who break the law will be fined $5.

5. Being drunk on a train in Michigan is illegal..

6. In Detroit, it is against the law to scowl at a woman.

7. It is prohibited to smoke in bed in the city of Soo.

8. In Rochester, all bathing suits are supposed to be inspected by the head of police.

9. A woman is not permitted to cut her own hair without the consent of her spouse.

10. It’s illegal to sing to your sweetheart in Kalamazoo.

11. Adultery is against the law, but only when the harmed husband or wife makes a formal complaint.

One crazy law finally did get repealed for what every reason. "It used to be illegal to swear in front of women and children." Fat chance that that would never happen. In any case, it was finally repealed.

Good heavens, we had better clean up our act. Probably all of us have been committing crimes and not even know it!
