Storms have come through West Michigan in the last 24 hours leaving many without power.

But the storms aren't the only thing causing a loss of power in Grand Rapids.

At the time of this post 163 Consumers Energy customers east of Rockford, 56 south of Nunica, and 1,474 on the south side of Grand Rapids are without power.

Many others have already had power restored.

There are multiple reasons for the power outages. Woodtv.com reports:

A utility pole caught on fire in the 1800 block of Eastern Avenue SE around 11 a.m., then a truck hit a utility pole at an unknown exact location, and a transformer grid went out, officials told 24 Hour News 8.

Some of the affected intersections are College Avenue and Michigan Street NE, and Agler Avenue and Eastern Avenue SE.
